Normalcy is a myth… I think.
It’s the big day when all schools in the greater Columbus area are in session! This week was the first “normal” week for my kids since last week was a short one. And I’m still struggling with what will be a normal routine in our home. So far my almost 4-year has cried everyday that we’ve dropped off his siblings. Writing one or two papers a week for school for me is grueling. Trying to remember what kids have due and when is chaotic some days… most days.
I drove to my local Y after dropping off the school-aged kids today with a thought that somehow made it into my head while the 4-year was crying and kicking the back of my seat.
Pre-school…. oh, yeah.
This would be the answer to his need to pack a lunch and bring a backpack somewhere like everyone else. I think it might work – there’s a program that runs 2.5 hours, 2 days a week and I can stay and work out since we have a family membership. It doesn’t start until after Labor Day though so I’m left hanging for another thing to be “normal” in my day-in, day-out routine.
Thank goodness there are some things I can still count on… some things that are extraordinarily normal.
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”
Romans 8:38-39 (NASB)
